AWS Budgets helps you plan, track, and control your AWS spending.
You can monitor:

  • ๐Ÿ’ต Cost โ€” track spending
  • โšก Usage โ€” track resource usage
  • ๐Ÿงพ Savings Plans / RI coverage โ€” track discounts and commitments

Alerts can be sent via email or SNS when thresholds are crossed.


โš™๏ธ How to Create a Budgetโ€‹

  1. Open Billing Console โ†’ Budgets

  2. Choose Budget Type: Cost, Usage, Savings Plans, or Reservation

  3. Set Budget Details: Name, Period, Start/End Date, Budget Type

  4. Define Budget Limit: Amount, apply to actual or forecasted, optional service filter

  5. Configure Alerts: Threshold %, Email/SNS recipients

  6. Review & Create

AWS will start tracking and sending alerts based on your configuration.

  • Track Actual Cost, Forecasted Spend, and Alerts Triggered from the Budgets Dashboard.
  • Free Tier nearing limit โ†’ create a Usage Budget
  • Cap total spend โ†’ create a Cost Budget
  • Track specific services (e.g., EC2) โ†’ add Service Filter
